CTBL Celebrates our Volunteers

Colorado Talking Book Library values the effort our volunteers contribute every day. We could not provide this highly valued service without the help of many dedicated and talented people, who enrich our experience by working alongside us and through their efforts, make us look good.

Volunteer Appreciation Brunch

Pioneer volunteers enjoying the brunchTo show our appreciation for their hard work, CTBL, with the support of the Friends of Colorado Talking Book Library, hosts a Volunteer Appreciation Brunch each December. This elegant event is held at the Lakewood Country Club where we honor those volunteers who have made significant contributions through their many years of service. Awards are given for 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 years of service. Each volunteer who has given 30 years of service are given a special day named in their honor and proclaimed by the governor. Extra special honors are given to those who have volunteered for 35 and 40 years.

Volunteer Appreciation Week

Two volunteers enjoying treats in the break roomCTBL celebrates Volunteer Appreciation Week each April with a party that lasts five days! Each year a different theme is chosen and the building is decorated and small gifts are given to each of our volunteers. Sweets and treats are abundant in the break room (many provided by our staff) and the atmosphere in the building is even more light-hearted and festive than usual!

Volunteer Awards
The CTBL volunteers have received many awards, as individuals as well as for group contributions. Here are just a few of the awards honoring their dedication.

The Telephone Pioneers Talking Book Machine Repair Crew has won several awards including:

  • Volunteer monitor in the recording studioJC Penney Golden Rule Award
  • Colorado Library Association Distinguished Service Award
  • Library of Congress Commendation for Service
  • Denver Teachers' Helen Phelps Award
Our patrons are very grateful for the library and we couldn't offer our services without a lot of very dedicated people, like you.
