Dr. Dave Benson is a Colorado native and has worked in Colorado education since 1970. During his 41 year career, Dave has served as a psychologist, teacher, school and district-level administrator and independent consultant. He also drove school bus for seven years. He holds degrees or licensure endorsements in psychology, special education, and school and district administration from Gustavus Adolphus College, The University of Northern Colorado, and The University of Colorado. Additionally, he has completed post graduate work at the Universities of Minnesota, Wisconsin and California.

Dave has consulted and presented workshops in a number of states with emphases in school improvement, leadership, organizational change, standards-based education practices, and literacy. He authored The Standards-Based Teaching/Learning Cycle for the Colorado Department of Education in 2008. He has been recognized at the state and national levels for his leadership in developing innovative programs in literacy. He also has worked briefly in private practice as a psychotherapist.

Since 2000, Dave has led or participated in over 60 CADI and SST reviews throughout the state. He has provided consultation to school and district leaders, ongoing facilitation of school and district leadership teams, and supported standards-based education practices at the school and district level. Additionally, he has facilitated numerous "roll-outs" of CADI and SST reports as well as facilitated district-level development of Unified School Improvement Plans.

Through this work, Dave has advanced leadership in schools and districts to strategically plan and implement research-based practices to improve student learning. His work has resulted in significant improvement in student achievement in a number of schools.

Explanation of how we are able to provide differentiated services to meet the individual needs of schools and districts.

All schools or districts are provided services based on their current state, current practices and student achievement levels. Additionally, all consulting work is not "pre-packaged" but iterative, based on current state and needs of the client school or district and continually monitored for appropriateness to the curent issues facing the school or district.

How will we evaluate our services and support to schools and districts and its effectiveness in school/ district/ student achievement?

First and foremost, all my work is evaluated by results in student achievement, particularly growth patterns. Second, effectiveness of services is monitored through regular, solicited feedback from clients relative to the Scope of Work and deliverables designated in performance contracts or memoranda of understandings. Feedbac regarding quality and appropriateness of work is solicited from clients on a continuing basis.
