Valarie McElhinney has worked in education for almost 20 years. Her experience includes teaching, coaching, and district level literacy leader for students K-12. For the last 10 years, Valarie has focused on instructional coaching. She is talented in building productive adult groups. In addition to this, she is an expert in planning and implementing compelling professional development. Not only is she experienced at building dynamic groups, she knows how to effectively coach adults. She believes education can change lives for the better. Valarie holds a Masters in Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Regis University and a principal licensure from CU Denver. She has been a PEBC National Classroom teacher and has received many leadership awards in her previous school district.

Cody Lancaster has worked in education for 14 years. His expertise includes best mathematical practices and using data to guide teaching and learning. Not only is Cody an expert in instruction, he is also an expert in building relationships with students. Cody leads from his heart in a way that gets him to his belief that education can change lives. His talent includes building teachers into more expert practitioners. Cody has received leadership awards in his previous district. He has been featured in Diane Sweeney’s Student Centered Coaching video as well.

VEC prides itself on providing customizable services. Our work always begins with a free consultation with the school or district to understand the vision they are striving to reach. Based on that meeting, a plan is created and partnership is born. We are transparent with avenues that we can support your school in and avenues we cannot. Our goal is for you to reach your goal and if we cannot support you on that journey we will share that with you from the beginning.

How will we evaluate our services and support to schools and districts and its effectiveness in school/ district/ student achievement?

VEC constantly collects evidence of growth and impact of work on the school/district that they are collaborating with. Once goals are determined with the school/district, we use a data tool to track growth over time. That evidence is shared with administrators and often reflected on as our partnership progresses with your school/district. Student achievement is a priority. If we are not achieving favorable results that are positively impacting student learning trajectory, we are doing the wrong work. Adjustments are made from these reflections as we are continuously working on improving to ensure student success.
