Qualifications of this Organization (licensure, trademark, etc.):

SchoolWorks, founded in 1998 and based in Beverly, Massachusetts, is an education consulting group with the mission of advancing all aspects of student learning and well-being by building the capacity of educators and educational institutions to assess, plan for and achieve student success. With a foundation in assessment services, SchoolWorks has reviewed and documented the work of thousands of schools and districts since the company’s inception in 1998—developing and refining a proprietary set of research-based criteria (SchoolWorks Quality Criteria) and an evidence-based classroom observation tool (SchoolWorks Classroom Visit Tool) that serve as the framework for this work.

With decades of insight into best practices across domains, SchoolWorks provides authoritative school improvement support by helping schools and districts identify their strengths and weaknesses, develop and execute meaningful and achievable action plans, and monitor ongoing progress. The company’s consulting services include: 1) designing accountability frameworks; 2) school/district assessment; 3) leadership supports; 4) instructional supports; and 5) lead partner services for turnaround schools and districts.

SchoolWorks’ vision is an educational system that interprets best practices to meet the unique needs of every community, neighborhood and school. To accomplish this vision, we work from a set of core values. We will learn with our clients as their capacity to educate students evolves. We will achieve our vision by continually learning from effective practices and by reflecting on how we impact student learning, educators’ practices and client satisfaction. In developing this and any proposal, SchoolWorks adheres to our core values:
• Accountability. We believe accountability for results is an essential component of every successful organization.
• Based on Evidence. We seek to understand the context and practices of schools, districts, school networks, authorizers, and communities through evidence-based processes.
• Collaboration and Learning. We serve our clients best by collaborating and learning with them.
• Diversity. We practice cultural competence in the diverse communities and schools in which we work, and are strengthened by differing backgrounds, beliefs, experiences, and approaches.
• Effective Practices. We identify effective practices across the education landscape, interpret and apply them in all aspects of our work.

Explanation of how we are able to provide differentiated services to meet the individual needs of schools and districts.

SchoolWorks works with each client to understand its unique needs and challenges. After an introductory phone call or meeting, SchoolWorks will customize a full proposal, including a scope of work and project budget, to address those needs and challenges.

SchoolWorks has access to Project Managers and consultants that represent a wide range of skills, abilities, and expertise; they have served as school and district leaders, as well as classroom teachers. They have expertise in policy and oversight; district and school leadership, curriculum, instruction, and assessment; school culture; professional development; school and family connections; and school governance. They also represent a wide range of expertise in school design models, grade levels, content areas, and school and district leadership. We select project staff based on the needs of our clients, and are able to ensure an alignment of skills and expertise to project goals.

How will we evaluate our services and support to schools and districts and its effectiveness in school/ district/ student achievement?

SchoolWorks evaluates our services, client satisfaction, and our impact on schools and districts in multiple ways. We administer surveys to school and district stakeholders immediately following each engagement to assess their satisfaction and to gain greater understanding about the experience from them. We also administer impact surveys to gather stakeholder perception data about the impact of our services on student achievement and well-being. Finally, we administer client satisfaction surveys once the project has been fully completed. Results from these surveys are posted on our website at https://www.schoolworks.org/results/.

In our Lead Partner engagements, SchoolWorks identifies clear, measurable goals for each initiative, and tracks progress toward those goals on a regular basis.
