Under 500 Students:

Teacher effectiveness has become a top priority in Colorado school districts and with SB191, Principals are in need of a tool to help them provide meaningful evaluations/observations while still being able to accurately assess each teacher with the extensive rubric in a reasonable amount of time. Teacher Compass, in conjunction with Johns Hopkins University, is an online software solution that streamlines observations/evaluations using any framework or rubric needed by the district (or multiple frameworks or rubrics) and provides on-demand professional development specific to teacher’s needs (and district, school and/or personal goals.)

• The Compass Suite (made up of Teacher Compass “Observe” and Teacher Compass “PD”) is designed as both a diagnostic and prescriptive professional development tool.
• The software streamlines the process of teacher and leader observations, allowing evaluators to input data online easily via laptop or mobile devices (free iPad and Droid apps available), online or offline
• It generates insightful reports and graphs. It is highly customizable, supporting SB191 or any framework(s), reports and labels.
• The platform also allows student achievement/growth data to be shown alongside Teacher evaluation data. Teacher Compass can “talk to” your current systems (Alpine, Galileo…whatever systems the district has).

Once trends or target areas for improvement have been identified, the Compass Suite automatically suggests online, on-demand professional development from a library of over 4,000 videos, tutorials and online modules.
• The PD library enables teachers and school leaders to browse, search and share professional development content from renowned authors such as Robert Marzano, Rick Stiggins, John Saphier and many others.
• Much of the content is program-specific (like for enVisionMATH and Reading Street), although there are many more general collections as well, like Common Core, ELL, Classroom Management, assessments, differentiated instruction, etc..
• Many of the videos offer real teachers in real classrooms modeling lessons.
• Districts/schools have the ability to add their own local collections as well (videos of their own teachers, documents or resources for sharing, etc.)
