Qualifications of this Organization (licensure, trademark, etc.):

Mondo Publishing was founded in 1986 by Mark Vineis. Initially an organization specializing in professional learning, Mondo remains dedicated to modeling and supporting best practices in literacy instruction and leadership development, believing that all students can achieve high standards given sufficient time and support, and that teachers hold the key to successful learning.

In 1994 Mondo began publishing supplemental reading/language arts resources, followed by core and intervention materials. Anchored by the Bookshop Reading program, Mondo’s core and supplemental materials have been adopted in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas. Mondo resources also include the noteworthy Let’s Talk About It! Oral Language-Reading and Writing program, Mondo Intervention, and a variety of practical and effective core, intervention, and supplemental solutions for the K–5 classroom.

The Bookshop Reading program incorporates research-based instructional strategies that improve literacy outcomes. Multiple third-party studies show significantly improved student outcomes, including English Language Learners and those at-risk. The first of several third-party research studies took place in 1997 with the Boston, New York City, and Elgin/Chicago school districts. Since that year, studies in Florida, Connecticut, and New York have consistently provided further evidence of dramatic improvement in test scores.

Mondo Professional Development offers a range of high quality professional development services to support networks or individual schools in the development, implementation, and/or evaluation of their Literacy program

All Mondo professional development is structured around the theme of using formative data to guide and improve literacy instruction for all students. The aim is to improve outcomes for all students via sustained change in school leadership and teacher practice, which will continue beyond the period of the professional development support.

Mondo Professional Development is underpinned by two central beliefs:
• All students can achieve high standards given sufficient time and support
• Teachers hold the key to successful learning

Mondo Professional Development works in consultation with relevant administrators at a cluster/network or school level to:
• Determine the current status of existing instructional programs
• Create measurable goals and benchmarks for students achievement in reading by grade level
• Develop a customized professional development plan for targeted audiences to support instruction and achieve improved student outcomes in literacy
• Evaluate the success at the conclusion of service and develop school based sustainability plans

Mondo Professional Development provides a variety of topics and programs ranging from comprehensive literacy intervention practices to more targeted instructional strategies. The specific details of services to be provided (including frequency, duration ad focus) can be customized to meet the needs of network and individual school clients. A menu of delivery options for this customized delivery is described below.
