Accountability & Improvement

Preparing for the UIP Winter Submission Cycle

Schools and districts with a priority improvement or turnaround plan type, and districts required to complete a student graduation completion plan or are identified for improvement under Title III must submit UIPs to CDE for review by Jan. 15. Some grant programs may require submission (e.g., TIG, TDIP) as well. Plans are to be submitted through the online Tracker system, which will open for UIP winter submissions on Dec. 14. Additional resources for submissions will be available on the website as the window approaches.

CDE is also offering an optional winter submission window for districts and/or schools to submit revised UIPs for posting on SchoolView. Districts or schools that opt to submit UIPs for posting on SchoolView this winter must do so through the online Tracker system Dec. 14 - Jan. 15. Plans submitted during the winter cycle will replace the currently posted plans in February. All school and district plans must be submitted for public posting on SchoolView by Apr. 15.

View the Finalized UIP Pre-Populated Templates

With the adoption of the school and district plan types by the State Board of Education last week, the pre-populated UIP reports have been updated and finalized for 2012.

Districts may access the reports through the same unique URL that was emailed to superintendents and district accountability in September. Staff may request the link by emailing Jamie Baker. This URL will open a file that contains two folders: district reports and school reports. Pre-populated reports are not available for alternative education campuses because of the wide variability of performance indicators. All reports are in MS Word format so improvement planning teams may work directly in the template.

Directions for specific plan requirements, including required addenda and plan submission requirements are located on page 4 of the district pre-populated UIP reports, and page 3 of the school reports.

Submit Your TELL Survey Success Stories

CDE sent out "headcount numbers" (based upon data from the 2011 HR collection) to district superintendents and HR contacts to determine the number of codes sent to each school for staff to access the survey. Districts should confirm the numbers by Friday, Dec. 14. Schools and districts must have at least 50 percent participation to view their own data for improvement efforts. Inaccurate counts could result in an interference with schools getting their TELL survey data back.

CDE is also interested in collecting your success stories in the survey and how schools and districts have used the data to make improvements at the district and school levels. These stories can be highlighted on the website and in resources to help others take advantage of this rich data.

Access Assessments in the CDE Resource Bank

The CDE Resource Bank consisting of high quality assessments that are aligned to the Colorado Academic Standards has launched. This initial launch includes assessments reviewed by the Colorado Content Collaboratives from Cohort I for music, dance, drama, social studies and some reading, writing & communicating. We are loading more reading, writing & communicating assessments as well as assessments for visual arts. In January, assessments from Cohort II which includes the subjects of comprehensive health, mathematics, physical education, science, world languages and career & technical education will be added to the CDE Resource Bank. While the bank will continue to be updated with more assessments and instructional supports, this launch allows districts to field test assessments and begin considering existing assessment resources for use in teacher evaluations.
