Accountability & Improvement

Register for the Facilitating Root Cause Analysis Training

Provided in partnership with the Center for Transforming Learning and Teaching, this learning session is for those needing to facilitate root cause analysis with planning teams. Effective root cause analysis helps planning teams ensure that the actions they take will result in improvement in student learning. Participants in this session will learn how to plan an effective RCA, practice using various RCA dialogue protocols (including RCA on positive performance), identify ways that RCA can “go wrong” with different groups and access and practice facilitation strategies to ensure RCA sessions stay on track and are productive and positive for all participants. This session is on Tuesday, June 10 in the metro area.

Awards & Recognitions

Congratulations to Colorado’s 2014 Green Ribbon Schools Honorees

Three Colorado schools and one district were awarded this prestigious honor: Mesa Elementary School (Cortez), Larkspur Elementary School (Larkspur), Lesher Middle School (Ft. Collins) and Boulder Valley School District.

The U.S. Department of Education honors America’s public and private elementary, middle and high schools for their efforts toward improving student health and achievement and reducing their environmental impact. A Green Ribbon Schools award represents a healthy and sustainable school, recognized by parents, students, staff and governments at federal, state and local levels as an exemplary model of achievement in sustainability, health and environmental education.

A ceremony to celebrate the honorees will take place on Tuesday, July 22 at the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Standards & Assessments

View the Timeline for the Preliminary 2014 TCAP Grade 3 Reading and Lectura Release

Consistent with the process used for previous years, the preliminary and unofficial 2013 Grade 3 TCAP Reading and Lectura status results will be available to districts and the media.

The data are preliminary and unofficial because the data have not gone through the Student Biographical Data (SBD) review process. Districts are allowed to review and modify all their TCAP biographical data during SBD beginning in late May 2014. The SBD review process may affect individual school and district summary level data.

The official Grade 3 TCAP Reading and Lectura results will be released at the same time as the scores for the remaining TCAP results. This release is tentatively planned for early August 2014.

Process:
-Status data will be available to district assessment coordinators from the secure CTB Navigator website on Friday, April 25.
-Data will be available to the media on Friday, May 2, and will be under embargo.
-Data is embargoed until noon on Tuesday, May 6, so districts will have time to review their preliminary and unofficial data.
-Districts may address their preliminary and unofficial results with the media as district officials deem appropriate after noon on Tuesday, May 6.
-CDE will not issue a news release since the data are preliminary and unofficial.
