View the End of Year Collection Timeline

The student end-of-year data collection for the 2012-13 school year opens Thursday, May 16. To ensure the successful and timely completion of this collection by all districts and BOCES, the following milestones and deadlines have been implemented:

• May 16– EOY 2012-13 opens for data submission
• June 6 – All districts should submit at least one complete set of EOY files and pass preliminary edit checks.
• June 20 – Pass first level edit checks.
• Aug 1 - All districts should obtain 2nd level edits
• September 13 – All districts must approve initial Data Summary Reports (Data Submission Phase closes). This deadline is mandated under Colorado Administrative Rules.
• October 1 through October 24 – Post Collection Phase A (reclaiming dropouts from prior collection years).
• October 31 through December 5 – Post Collection Phase B (verifying transfers and dropouts within Colorado)
• December 12 – Superintendents must approve final Data Summary Reports (collection closes)
• Mid-January 2014 – Official/final data and rates posted on the CDE web site and released to the public

The student end-of-year report is a large and complex data collection effort. Each district should plan to dedicate significant staff hours to complete the report over the eight month collection period.

Read Important Updates on Data Pipeline

Data Pipeline replaces the Automated Data Exchange system that is used for state reporting and takes CDE from 19 point-in-time collections to six transactional interchanges, allowing local education agencies to submit data regularly to CDE and fix data errors the data as they go. The Data Pipeline solution will help streamline data collection and reduce manual burdens on our school districts.

Chief Information Officer Dan Domagala will hold a town hall webinar on Thursday, May 2 from 9 – 10 a.m. to update you on the September rollout of Data Pipeline.

PowerSchool, a vendor providing a web-based student information system, has released the Student Interchange for districts for testing data loads within Data Pipeline. If you have vendor news, please send us an update to post on The Scoop.

The Special Education Discipline Interchange Pilot will commence Tuesday, May 7. Thank you to all who continue to support the pilot.

Attend Data Pipeline’s weekly town hall on Thursdays from 9 – 10 a.m. To join all town halls, visit: http://connect.enetcolorado.org/cde-data-pipeline or call in at: 1-866-764-6750.

Educator Effectiveness & Licensing

Learn About the Approval of District/BOCES-Developed and Third-Party Provided Educator Evaluator Training Programs

To help districts distribute leadership, mange workload and ensure high quality feedback to educators, state statute allows principal designees to conduct evaluations as long as they have been through an evaluator training program approved by CDE.

Last week, the CDE Educator Effectiveness team released the process for districts, BOCES and other third-party providers who are training on unique evaluation systems (systems other than the Colorado State Model Evaluation System) to apply for approval of their evaluator training programs. This process will allow evaluators (who do not have principal licenses) who are trained on the district/BOCES or third-party unique evaluation system to be able to conduct evaluations pursuant to the law. To submit an application for approval, districts or other training providers must respond to a request for proposal (see link below). To clarify, this process is only for districts or training providers that wish to train evaluators on unique district evaluation systems (not on the Colorado State Model Education System, for which CDE provides the training).

Standards & Assessments

Apply for School Readiness Assessment Funds Beginning May 6

CDE will release a formal application for funds to purchase Teaching Strategies GOLD subscriptions for the 2013-14 school year on Monday, May 6. The application will allow districts to request funds to cover 100 percent of subscription costs for kindergarten students for the 2013-14 school year. The negotiated price for the subscriptions is $8.95 per child. Applications for the 2014-15 school year will be released in early 2014.

Because districts will contract directly with Teaching Strategies for the kindergarten subscriptions, CDE recommends that districts consult local procurement rules and processes. Keep in mind that many districts already have contracts in place with Teaching Strategies.

A webinar with information on the application process will be conducted on Tuesday, May 7 from 10 to 11 a.m. To register for the webinar, visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/9X8FDJB.
