Accountability & Improvement

View the Unified Improvement Plans on SchoolView

District and school UIPs are now posted on SchoolView and can be accessed by clicking the school performance link on SchoolView and then click the “improvement plan” link associated with the district/school selected.

As improvement planning is a continuous process and districts and schools continue to work on their plans throughout the year, the plans that are posted reflect a “point-in-time” submission.

Educator Effectiveness & Licensing

Submit Your Educator Evaluator Training Applications by June 17

To support districts to distribute leadership, manage workload and ensure high quality feedback to educators, Senate Bill 10-191 allows principal designees to conduct evaluations as long as they’ve attended a CDE approved training program. Last month, the Educator Effectiveness team released a request for proposal to approve evaluator training providers for systems other than the Colorado State Model Evaluation System. Districts, BOCES, vendors, non-profits, universities and other organizations can all apply to be state approved trainers. The application to become an approved evaluator trainer on a unique evaluation system is now available and is due to CDE by 4 p.m. on June 17 (Please note: this is one week later than the original deadline; the deadline has been extended to support districts as they wrap up the school year).

Sign Up for Summer Educator Effectiveness Trainings

To support districts as they prepare for the implementation of the new educator evaluation requirements in effect the 2013-14 school year, additional trainings will be offered around the state this summer. This series of trainings is the last chance for districts to receive training by CDE staff before the new school year. There are two separate opportunities available on each offered training day: a session on professional practices for districts using the Colorado State Model Evaluation System rubric and a work session on student learning outcomes/growth applicable to all districts. Attendees may register for one or both of the sessions depending on their role in their district. Registration for the trainings is free, but capacity is limited so sign up today.

Standards & Assessments

Apply to Participate in Core to College P20 Regional Partnerships

The Colorado Department of Higher Education in collaboration with CDE is accepting applications from high school mathematics and English/language arts teachers for Core to College P20 Regional Partnerships.

CDHE has received a two-year grant from the Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors to develop a network of four regional P20 partnerships in Colorado comprised of mathematics and English language arts high school teachers and higher education faculty. The goals are for high school teachers to learn from faculty what freshman entering college-level classes should know and be able to do and for faculty to learn from high school teachers what they should expect of high school graduates, based on mastery of the new Colorado Academic Standards. The first meeting of the Core to College P20 Regional Partnerships will be on Monday, June 10 in the Denver metro area.

Interested high school teachers should contact Emily Glancy at emmy.glancy@dhe.state.co.us or 303-866-4030.

Apply for School Readiness Assessment Funds

CDE has released the formal application for funds to purchase Teaching Strategies GOLD subscriptions for the 2013-14 school year. The application will allow districts to request funds to cover 100 percent of subscription costs for kindergarten students for the 2013-14 school year. The negotiated price for the subscriptions is $8.95 per child. Applications for the 2014-15 school year will be released in early 2014.

Because districts will contract directly with Teaching Strategies for the kindergarten subscriptions, CDE recommends that districts consult local procurement rules and processes. Keep in mind that many districts already have contracts in place with Teaching Strategies. Apply at http://bit.ly/118LN6B.
