Accountability & Improvement

View the Updated Selection of Accountability Measures Form for Alternative Education Campuses

An updated selection of accountability measures form for alternative education campuses to use towards 2013-14 school year AEC school performance frameworks was released on May 14.

By July 1, all alternative education campuses must submit a selection of accountability measures form, with district or authorizer's approval. The form should indicate any optional supplemental accountability measures, metrics and cut-points requested in the AEC school performance framework report.

CDE implemented a policy change for the 2013-14 school year which requires districts to submit supplemental measures for AECs in each indicator area if statewide assessments are not available and sufficient data is available (i.e., the student count is greater than 16 students over three years of data collection). More detailed information about the policy change can be found at the link below.

Learn About the Turnaround Network Kickoff

The network, launched by the School and District Performance Unit on Friday, June 13, is a commitment between CDE and local school districts to accelerate student achievement of some of the state’s lowest performing schools through targeted support, resources and flexibility.

For the first convening, eight network schools from across the state gathered at the University of Denver’s Morgridge School of Education. The school leaders and district partners engaged in collaborative work to understand best practices and lessons learned in school turnaround. Participants collaborated in a design-thinking session to define a problem of practice and brainstorm promising and innovative solutions. Additionally, the inaugural network cohort worked in their teams to set some year-long goals and action plans.

CDE will calculate per-pupil early literacy funds based on the total number of students identified with a significant reading deficiency according to data provided in the READ Act data collection. After a validation of the data, CDE will begin the anticipated distribution process by mid-September. Submit data by Friday, July 18 to assist CDE in meeting the timeline for distributing the funds.
