Accountability & Improvement

Submit Your Alternative Education Campus Submission Forms by July 1

Districts interested in applying on behalf of their schools for Alternative Education Campus designation for the 2013-14 school year may download an updated application and renewal for designation as an alternative education campus. An updated selection of accountability measures for alternative education campuses form for AECs to use towards their 2012-13 school year AEC School Performance Framework is also available.

By July 1, all schools seeking designation or renewal as an AEC will need to submit both forms, with their district or authorizer's approval, verifying that the school meets or continues to meet eligibility criteria and indicating any optional supplemental accountability measures, metrics, and cut-points they are requesting to be used in their AEC School Performance Framework report. Please visit the AEC accountability webpage for updated forms.

Participate in Field Testing for the Colorado Science and Social Studies Assessments

Many districts that participated in the initial round of field testing for the new science and social studies assessments reported that it was a positive experience that provided an opportunity for testing technology capacity, interacting with the online testing environment and training personnel. Districts can continue to take advantage of practice opportunities in a no-stakes environment as more field test opportunities will be available in the fall. Field testing will take place in mid-late September for elementary and middle school and in late October for high school. The elementary and middle school field tests will occur one grade higher than the intended assessed grades. Social studies will be assessed at 5th- and 8th-grades on 4th- and 7th-grade assessment frameworks. Science will be assessed at 6th- and 9th-grades on 5th- and 8th-grade assessment frameworks. The Assessment Unit is currently recruiting districts for participation. If you are interested in participating in the fall field tests, please contact Margo Allen at allen_m@cde.state.co.us.
