Accountability & Improvement

View the Updated Alternative Education Campus Selection of Accountability Measures Form

An updated selection of accountability measures form for alternative education campuses to use towards 2013-14 school year AEC school performance frameworks was released on May 14.

By July 1, all alternative education campuses must submit a selection of accountability measures form, with district or authorizer's approval. The form should indicate any optional supplemental accountability measures, metrics and cut-points requested in the AEC school performance framework report.

CDE implemented a policy change for the 2013-14 school year which requires districts to submit supplemental measures for AECs in each indicator area if statewide assessments are not available and sufficient data is available (i.e., the student count is greater than 16 students over three years of data collection). More detailed information about the policy change can be found at the link below.

Learn More About the Indicator 8 Parent Survey

Under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Colorado is required to develop a state performance plan that evaluates the state's efforts to implement the requirements and purposes of IDEA Part B and how the state will improve its implementation. The state performance plan contains measurable and rigorous targets for indicators established by the U.S. Department of Education. Colorado uses a parent survey to measure Indicator 8: Parent Involvement. Specifically, Indicator 8 “measures the percent of parents with a child receiving special education services who report that schools facilitated parent involvement as a means of improving services and results for children with disabilities.”

Parents of children who received special education services and supports during the 2012-13 school year from the following Colorado administrative units, comprised of districts and BOCES, will receive a letter from CDE inviting them to participate in this year's parent survey: Adams 12 Five Star Schools; Arapahoe 1, Englewood; Arapahoe 5, Cherry Creek; Denver 1; Douglas County RE-1; El Paso 11, Colorado Springs; Weld Re-3J, Keenesburg; Weld Re-8, Fort Lupton; Jefferson R-1; Logan Re-1, Valley; East Central BOCES; Pikes Peak BOCES; South Central BOCES; and Ute Pass BOCES.

The submission deadline is Saturday, June 28.
