Learn More About Data Pipeline and Data Sharing at the CASE Convention on July 25

Colorado has emerged as a leader in measuring success, from postsecondary and workforce readiness to educator effectiveness. A historic inter‐agency data sharing agreement allows us to follow students through P‐12, college and into the workforce. Join the session on Thursday, July 25 at the Colorado of School Executives (CASE) Convention at Beaver Run Resort in the Mt. Elbert A conference room at 1:45 p.m.

Panel members include:
• Dan Domagala
• Jan Rose Petro, data services director, CDE

Standards & Assessments

Participate in Field Testing for the Colorado Science and Social Studies Assessments

Districts can continue to prepare for the new online science and social studies state assessments by taking advantage of field testing opportunities in mid-late September for elementary and middle school content and in late October through mid-November for high school content. Many districts that participated in the initial round of field testing for these assessments reported that they feel more prepared for next spring’s assessments and that they were able to effectively test their district's technology capacity.

CDE strongly encourages districts to participate in the fall field tests. Participating districts will have the opportunity to discover potential challenges in a low stakes environment. These challenges can be addressed before the actual assessments are given. Districts participating in the field test will also receive more targeted technical support. In addition, participation will provide districts with an opportunity to verify that:
-Devices operate as expected
-Bandwidth is sufficient
-Staff know how to engage with the system to proctor cache, create
test sessions, complete demographic updates, print test tickets,
launch the system, and proctor the assessment
-Students are familiar with the test engine

If you are interested in participating in the fall field tests, please contact Christina Wirth-Hawkins.

Recruitment of Colorado Educators for Assessment Development Activities

Educator involvement in the development and review of state assessments is essential to ensuring that the content of items is appropriate for Colorado students and that the items are not unfairly advantageous or disadvantageous to a particular group of students. Assessment development provides a unique professional development opportunity for participating educators. CDE would like district representation from across the state.

Educators who have been selected from the educator database will be invited to participate in assessment development activities. Interested educators can include their information in the database by clicking on the following link: http://educator.force.com/CO.
