Apply for the 2015 Green Ribbon Schools Awards

CDE is accepting applications from schools and districts for the 2015 Green Ribbon Schools Award. Through the Green Ribbon Schools Award and the District Sustainability Award, the U.S. Department of Education honors America’s public and private elementary, middle and high schools and school districts for their efforts toward improving student health and achievement and reducing their environmental impact.

Schools and districts eligible for the honor demonstrate high achievement in the elements of each of the three GRS Pillars (Reduced Environmental Impact and Costs, Improved Health and Wellness and Effective Environmental and Sustainability Education) and have high college- and career-ready standards. Winners will be invited to participate in national and local recognition ceremonies.

Applications are due by 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3. Application training webinars will be held on Sept. 18, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. for districts and 11 a.m. to noon for schools. To register for these technical assistance opportunities, email competitivegrants@cde.state.co.us.

Respond to Consolidated Application Substantial Approval and Modification Process Comments

CDE staff is conducting the initial review of consolidated applications. As reviews are completed, districts and BOCES will receive an email from the application system granting substantial approval and directing them to the comment log for information on necessary modifications. The comment log can be accessed at: http://www2.cde.state.co.us/scriptscfpu/consapp/index.asp

CDE staff will work with the district/BOCES to ensure final approval is granted by Sept. 30. Address all comments for all programs and the strategy-based budget before resubmitting the application to CDE. A modified strategy-based budget should be submitted to electronic_budget@cde.state.co.us. Be sure the modification option has been selected on the cover page and use columns AB and AC to identify changes. The online application and the budget modifications must be resubmitted in order for CDE to review and provide final approval.

Title I data tables 2-4 will be locked on Aug. 1 and changes can't be made after that. These data tables list the method for serving schools; all district schools and whether a school will be served with Title I and the type of Title I program (targeted assistance or schoolwide). Regardless of where the district or BOCES is with the modification process, data tables 2-4 must be complete and accurate.
